Hotel Review- W Bali, Seminyak

W Bali resort

This is definitely the hotel to be seen at in Bali. The W Bali is modern, vibrant and luxurious, and all amenities are catered for. You will find loads of beautiful people lounging around the hotel getting their perfect Instagram and selfie shots because the setting is just so insta-worthy. The W Bali have a "Whatever, Whenever" line where, as the name suggests, your request is only a phone call away. I let them know we were celebrating a birthday and they were able to arrange a cake and balloons for our arrival.  Every weekend there is a visiting international DJ playing at the Woobar, so it's definitely a cool crowd. The Balinese people are very friendly and the service within the hotel is great. I did have some reservations about taking our kids to Bali, but within the hotel we felt safe and well looked after.

There is a few options when you stay at the W Bali. Within the main building there are rooms which overlook the pool/beach or gardens, or there are villas which are separate from the main building.

We stayed in a WOW 2 Bedroom Villa, number 17,  which had 2 very separate rooms, one room with a king bed and the other with 2 queen beds. Each were with their own very spacious bathrooms, desks and wardrobes. Joined together with an outdoor dining and living area, which overlooked a private pool. The villa was very private and spacious. We were told we would need to book the double villa as we were travelling with 2 kids, however, there was a safety issue with the kids being able to access the pool from their own room, so we all stayed in the larger room with my eldest son on the sofabed and my youngest in a crib which was supplied by the hotel. Yes, we didn't even use the second room!

There really is no need to leave the hotel with the amazing facilities offered by this resort. The kids' favourite was definitely the pool. After selecting which lounge chairs to relax in by the pool or cabana overlooking the beach, you can order drinks and food, go for a swim, jump on a bean bag in the pool, and just hang out and enjoy the sunshine.

Be aware that the resort is not entirely stroller friendly.  Pathways to the villas are cobbled paths so its a bumpy ride but they do offer a free buggy shuttle so you don't have to walk. Also there is one lift that takes you from the lobby level down to the Fire restaurant level. From there, if you want to get to the pool or to the other restaurants you will need to use the steps. This is a little inconvenient and frustrating but there are so many staff around that are willing to help you lift the pram up and down.

W Bali also have a beautiful Spa, Gym, business centre and library, a Balinese Oasis, shops and even its own recording studio.

For breakfast we enjoyed the Fire restaurant. One morning we arrive at 7am thinking the restaurant was closed but we were just the early birds, having the whole place to ourselves. We all got to pick a mug from the 'wall of mugs' when we entered the restaurant for our morning coffee and tea and were taken to our table. This is a full buffet breakfast, but if you prefer, you can order from the a la carte menu, all cost inclusive. I highly recommend this restaurant.

There is also a seafood restaurant overlooking the beach called Starfish Bloo, WOObar for cocktails and bar food, W lounge for quick eats and drinks from the fuel bar or sweet treats from the delicious high tea setting.

Located on the beach in Seminyak about a 45min drive from the airport, there are some restaurants and shops within walking distance, or a short cab drive. We loved Revolver Espresso and Sisterfields both for coffee and food.

We booked a driver to take us to other areas of Bali and back to the airport through the hotel. Although you can walk outside the hotel and get transport much cheaper, we decided to book through hotel and request car seats for both the kids, which don't seem to be a requirement in Bali. Just check the child seats are installed correctly as one of ours was not even strapped in.
